The Mezquita (mosque) in Cordoba is one of Andalucia’s most important monuments. This magnificent example of Moorish architecture dates back to the 8th century AD, and is remarkable for its hundreds of columns topped by red-and-white horseshoe arches. A cathedral was constructed within the mosque in the 16th century.
